How To Make A Homemade Foot Scrub With Coconut Oil

What You Will Need:

1.  Sugar – This all natural ingredient will help exfoliate the skin

Depending upon what you have available in your cupboard at the time, raw sugar is probably the best to use.  If you don’t have raw sugar, then regular white or even brown sugar is fine to use.

2.  Coconut Oil – Excellent benefits for the skin

You want to have organic coconut oil which is usually in solid form in cooler temps but easily melts into liquid form above room temperature.

My jar of coconut oil is usually liquid in the summer, unless our house is very cool. Anyway, coconut oil provides many benefits for the skin.  It moisturizes, cleanses, and is even good for treating skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

3.  Lemon Juice – You can use bottled lemon juice or the juice squeezed from a fresh lemon.

Lemon juice is very effective in cleansing the skin.  In fact, most organic cleansers contain lemon abstract in them.  It’s also known to lighten the skin.

4.  Aloe Vera Gel (optional)

Great for moisturizing the skin

The best part about making your own scrubs is the fact that you know exactly what you’re putting on your skin.  Plus, it’s fun to do and you’re saving some money.

Okay, here we go, let’s make our homemade foot scrub with sugar, coconut oil, and lemon juice:

Step 1 -

Place one tablespoon full of sugar into a bowl or a glass jar.  Again, raw sugar is the best, but it’s okay to use what you have available.

Step 2 -

Add a few teaspoons of the coconut oil.  This is much easier when it’s in liquid form.  If it’s not, you can warm up the coconut oil by putting the jar in a pot with warm water.

Step 3 -

Mix together to form a paste.  If the paste is too oily, then you can add more sugar.  If the paste is too dry, simply add some more oil.

Step 4 -

Add a few teaspoons of lemon juice and mix together.

Step 5 -

If you have some aloe vera gel in the house, then you can add some of this into the mixture.

Now really massage the mixture into your feet, exfoliating and moisturizing them. Make sure you rinse thoroughly and pat dry.  Your feet will feel amazing.  Store the rest for future use.

The sugar exfoliates and the coconut oil is uber-moisturizing. Just rinse with warm water and then massage in the oil left on your skin. Or you can rinse with soap if you don’t like the feeling of the oil, it will still leave you silky smooth.
